Checklist for new Connect Licences
This document provides a list of Till functionality in Connect that you may wish to check/edit prior to Going Live.
Functionality covered:
● Staff Setup: Individual Passwords and Configuration Settings
● Password Protection: Till to Back Office and Till Supervisor
● Receipt Personalisation: T&Cs, Showing Staff, Showing VAT
● Disabling Payment Buttons: ON ACC, CHQ, VCR
● Creating a Site Address

Staff Setup
The following settings will only need to be checked on one licence within the site;
From the Back Office click on the button labelled ‘Staff’.
Within the window labelled ‘Staff’, use the drop down list next to the field labelled ‘Site’. Select the appropriate site for your location.
Check that all appropriate staff members appear in the list.
Create any missing Staff Members. If you are intending to password protect the staff identification ensure that there is an entry within the field labelled ‘Swipe Code’ for all staff members.
If you wish to password protect staff identification ensure that the configuration setting is set to ‘F’.
To make this setting use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Security/Identify Till Operator. With ‘Identify Till Operator’ highlighted, ensure that there is an ‘F’ in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window.

Password Protection
If you wish to use password protection, you will need to do the following on each machine that has a Connect licence;
Creating a password for ‘Till to Back Office’.
This password protects the Back Office, which contains your stock tree and trade information.
To make this setting use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Security/Till to Back Office Password. With ‘Till to Back Office Password’ highlighted, enter a password in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window.
Creating a password for ‘Till Supervisor’.
This password protects the ability to cash up the till and to perform discounts.
To make this setting use the following path from the windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Security/Till Supervisor Password. With ‘Till Supervisor Password’ highlighted, enter a password in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window. This would ideally be different from the one above.

Receipt Personalisation
If you wish to make changes to your receipts you will need to do the following on each machine which has a Connect licence;
Changing the Terms and Conditions on till receipts.
To make this setting use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Receipt Printer Personalisation/Receipt Options/Terms. With ‘Terms’ highlighted, enter any changes in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window that you wish to make to the Terms and Conditions.

To make this setting use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Receipt Printer Personalisation/Receipt Options/Show Staff Member. With ‘Show Staff Member’ highlighted, change the ‘N’ to a ‘Y’ in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window.

To make this setting use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Receipt Printer Personalisation/Receipt Options/Show VAT. With ‘Show VAT’ highlighted, change the ‘N’ to a ‘Y’ in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window.

Disabling Payment Buttons
If you wish to disable till payment buttons you will need to use the following on each machine which has a Connect licence;
Disabling ‘On Account’ payment button.
To disable this button use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Till Preferences/Layout/Buttons/Show Till button ‘On Account’. With ‘Show Till button ‘On Account’ highlighted, change the ‘Y’ to and ‘N’ in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window.
Disabling ‘Cheque’ payment button.
To disable this button use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Till Preferences/Layout/Buttons/Show Till button ‘Cheque’. With ‘Show Till button ‘Cheque’ highlighted, change the ‘Y’ to and ‘N’ in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window.
Disabling ‘Voucher’ payment button.
To disable this button use the following path from the Windows menu in the top left hand of the Back Office : Tools/Configure/Configuration Tab/Till Preferences/Layout/Buttons/Show Till button ‘Voucher’. With ‘Show Till button ‘Voucher’ highlighted, change the ‘Y’ to and ‘N’ in the right hand portion of the ‘Systems Options’ window.

Creation of Site Address
If you will need to use the following on each machine which has a Connect licence;
From the Back Office click on the button labelled ‘Supplier’.
The ‘Supplier’ window will appear. Click on the New Icon.
Create a New Supplier which represents your new Site/Shop Address.
This information is important when producing any documentation from Connect.
You will need to complete the fields labelled;
Name, VAT Code (use drop down list), Address 1 to 3 where applicable, County and Postcode.
Note: Please use initial capitals and the rest in lower case, as you would for typing a letter.

Creation of Site Address
When Connect is installed three icons appear on the Desktop: IR-Till, IR-Training and IR-Office. Where the Connect licence has been installed on a (true) Till it is advisable to remove the IR-Office icon as it allows unprotected access to the Stock Tree. To remove the icon, right click on IR-Office and choose Delete. This will send the icon to the Windows Recycle Bin.

Documentation and Receipt Logos
When Connect is installed and you have followed the section above ‘Creation of Site Address’ your address details will show on all documentation and receipts produced by Connect.
However, if you wish to have your logo printed on documentation and till receipts produced by Connect you will need to consult the appropriate Helpsheets to enable this feature. The process documented within these Helpsheets will need to be followed on each machine which has a Connect licence.
